At the beginning of last week, during some random zapping, a movie called out my attention which has been referred as the opening film for the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015, a drama with the Title "Demolition".
So I´ve planned yesterday a cozy evening to get down from the "Vlog-editing-excitement-Jazz" make myself comfortable with my Shitzu in crime and gave it a go.
Being a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal it wasn´t really hard not to like his performance, which was great by the way, however I was waiting for more in terms of drama content.
Summarizing the story quickly: Davis, this career focused successful business orientated person, all of a sudden looses his wife in a tragic car accident in which he was sitting right next to her and survived.
Considering that he should be extremely heartbroken and sad in such a circumstance, the complete opposite is the case, and it seems that Davis is wiped out in terms of feelings and continues his life normally.
After a hint from a close relative he starts understanding that something is wrong with himself and he finds an unusual way to process emotions and starts actively working on it.
I would say that the emphasis of the story was rather the tragic accident at the beginning which served as kind of a spearhead to the main role´s character turnover, than surely the "unpacking" of all root-causes which led to a whole new form of self-understanding.
It´s interesting how there is a bridge which connects a material world to an emotional universe.
On one side I was waiting for more active kind of drama content, and since this movie has a lot of introspective moments, that´s the reason why my ideas outcome wasn´t that expected, but still overall a nice movie.
If you are interested to form your own opinion about it, and watch it yourself, I´ll leave you here the trailer. Enjoy! :)
