Slowly but surely, the summer is coming to its end and my salt water and hot sun naturally lighten up hair, what was once so beautifully matching my tanned skin, was in need of some pigment and extra hydration.
I was already by the end of August thinking on giving it a fresher look, however the temperatures here in Portugal are still really high, and I strategically thought on postponing it to the end of summer, because living at the beach has the benefit that no matter if the city population is already setting their biological clock onwards Autumn, we sun seekers keep the beach rotine, till the wind blows too hard and the temperatures go down to a significant unbearable scale, that you either get a cold or turn into a frozen block.
The sea keep us resistent ;)
Although I consider myself a more nature orientated person and if I can chose between a product which concept is mostly based on natural ingredients, of course I will rather chose that one. Unfortunately my color choice for this time, was inevitably so high pigmented and and is miles away to be achivable in terms of results due to my own hair tone which is a light brown, that this time I´ve chose one which is full of quemicals.
Well, it´s a matter of choice I would say, a tendency doesn´t turn you necessarily into a fundamentalist. What isn´t my case.
I was thinking about a copper tone, which has intense shades of red in it, but without turning you too much into a Pumuckl copy.
You might work in a more formal environment, where either a specific dress-code or
aspect of yours is necessary, then in my opinion it´s more apropriate having less the dose of color boost, considering that it easily turns into a careless overall picture.
So I went for the L´oreal 740 tone and am quite happy with it. In pictures it seems really intense, but it is actually decent and wearable with most part of my wardrobe shades.
Well, one thing I need to add in terms of evaluation, the foam technique really suprised me positively. My fault was that I needed an extra pack instead of only one, but fortunately it went well after brushing the color from the roots till the ends to turn the color evenly and make sure all the hair was covered. Price range is around 10 Euros, which is also affordable.
Now about hair care natural versus chemical treatments:
I´m not a professional on this matter, but I´ve the luck to have one in my family and we´ve talked out how the hair care rotine is going to change from now on and for this I´ll leave you here some important facts to consider before spending money on what companies may sell you as effective.
- It´s not true, that after chemically dyed hair you can treat it with natural products, either homemade or purchased in stores.
- Be sure you search for labels which sale either shampoo´s, conditioners and hair masks with no salt in it.
- If you dyed hair to shades which turned your hair lighter, it will dry out faster than darker shades naturally and it will increase the more often you either use a blow dryer, a hair straightener or a curling iron.
- the most impostant fact about lightening your hair is losing keratin, which is one of the most important ingredients you will chase for, and the more concentrated the product has it the more expensive it is.
Till now I haven´t had the opportunity to upgrade my haircare essentials according to the new color, but as soon as I have all products I´ll share with you an updated hair care rotine.
I´m already having an eye on some brands ;)
Hope you have fun exploring new colors this autumn and hair ready for it or not, I´m still burning the last rounds of the full sun&sea program :D
I´m curious about your results, if you would like to share your new color, tag me on Instagram as @nicasd so I´ll can see it ;)
